Petitioning vs. Recognized

The intent of the petitioning status is to garner membership, support, and presence of a new student organization.


Petitioning Organization Privileges include:

  • Ability to post flyers on designated bulletin boards for general membership meetings
  • Table to promote organization
  • Reserve rooms and/or space for general membership meetings

A recognized student organization is in good standing with the university, has completed all requirements based on categorization, and has been in petitioning or recognized status the preceding semester.


Recognized Organization Privileges include:

  • Ability to post flyers on designated bulletin boards   
  • Table to promote organization
  • Reserve rooms and/or space for general membership meetings
  • Graphics Center design services at no cost
  • Access to $200 for Copy Mill funds every academic year
  • Ability to host campus wide events
  • Eligibility for funding from ASUSF through the Student Activity Fee
  • Ability to fundraise and generate revenue
