How to Start a Group, Step-by-Step
The following instructions provide the necessary steps to creating your new registered on-campus club or organization.
Step 1: Set up a meeting with a member of the Peer Advising team located at SLE, UC 4th Floor. Drop by or email sle@usfca.edu to receive the necessary information and instructions. *BEFORE meeting with PAT, be sure to have 5 prospective undergraduate members (including yourself) and an advisor for your club/organization.
Step 2: Complete the "Petition to Register a Club/Organization" form (available on the forms page). The petition serves as an opportunity for you to share insight with SLE about your organization, which includes 1) 50 word description about your organization, 2) a membership roster (5 member minimum), and 3) a constitution guide. Be sure to fill this form out entirely, be as specific as possible and finally, click "submit" at the bottom of the form. Please be aware of the petition deadlines (dates are provided below) and plan accordingly.
Step 3: After submitting the petition, a Peer Advisor will schedule a meeting with the club/organization leadership for recommended revisions.
Step 4: Submit all recommended changes to SLE within 24 hours of your meeting with a Peer Advisor.
Step 5: Attend Club Orientation to complete registration process (dates are provided below).
Upon completion of the following steps and approval by the Director of SLE, we will put your club information into our digital database, JADE, and send an official letter of recognition for your new registered club/organization. A few of the benefits of being a registered club with SLE are usage of University facilities and resources, eligibility to submit requests for funding, and opportunity to sponsor campus events, programs, and fundraising activities.
